Porcelain Dental Veneers and Lumineers

Porcelain Dental Veneers

Porcelain veneers have been changing peoples’ smiles for over 25 years. Dr Schwedfeger was one of the first dentists in Rochester, Pittsford, Fairport & Brighton to change peoples’ smiles with porcelain veneers and now his son Dr. Matt Schwedfeger continues his work. He has perfected the treatment since 1984. This restoration has very high success and offers beautiful aesthetics. Veneers can greatly enhance the appearance of teeth that are stained, chipped, worn or even badly positioned. This is the process that started the revolution in cosmetic dentistry.

Who should have their teeth bonded with dental veneers?

The application of dental veneers may be chosen as the teeth restoration technique for basically the same people who may need cosmetic bonding. However, dental veneers are more resistant to stains and discoloration than bonding. So, patients whose teeth no longer respond well to regular teeth whitening techniques may go for dental veneers instead. Porcelain veneers are also a lot more durable. They can also correct worn-out or misshapen teeth by changing their shape.

What are porcelain dental veneers?

Dental veneers are porcelain laminates that may be bonded on teeth. These laminates are fingernail-thin and can act as new outer coating for teeth. They are thin enough and similar enough to teeth that they can easily blend in with the remaining tooth structure. Porcelain dental veneers are often used for the same reasons as bonding; to lighten stains, close gaps and even alter crooked or malformed teeth. They are considerably more durable and stain resistant than bonding. Also once in place they look, feel and function just like regular teeth.

They can also correct worn-out or misshapen teeth by changing their shape. Porcelain veneers can be utilized to change the shape and color of a single tooth or if necessary, restore an entire smile. Porcelain veneers can also be used to correct teeth that have been worn from clenching and grinding.

So what are Lumineers?

Lumineers are thin porcelain veneers. Dr. Paul and Dr. Matt Schwedfeger and their Village Smiles team are using this exciting cosmetic dentistry innovation to provide you with the perfect smile. They are specifically using Cerinate Lumineers. Cerinate is a type of thin but exceptionally strong porcelain. Cerinate Lumineers can be as thin as 0.2mm or 0.3mm while traditional porcelain veneers can be as thick as 0.5mm. The whisper-thin technology from Cerinate Lumineers allow Dr. Paul and Dr. Matt Schwedfeger and their team to provide you with strong and beautiful veneers that can also preserve your natural tooth structure. Even with your natural tooth structure intact, your smile can be completely transformed even if you have problems with discoloration and stains, gaps, or misshapen teeth.

Understand than when your natural tooth structure is preserved, it may mean that there will be no drilling done to reduce your teeth. With some types of porcelain veneers, tooth reduction is required to provide space for the 0.5mm thickness. Because Cerinate Lumineers are thin enough to not require drilling, you may also be able to go through your whole teeth restoration without shots. Of course, you can consult with Dr. Paul and Dr. Matt Schwedfeger to see if you can go through the procedure without drilling.

Today, thousands of people who want to look and feel better about themselves are choosing to correct their smiles with Cerinate® Lumineers™.

For over 25 years, porcelain veneers have been making people’s smiles brighter. At about the same duration, Dr. Paul and Dr. Matthew Schwedfeger have been helping brighten those smiles. He was, in fact, one of the first dentists to perfect the treatment in the Rochester area. He had been using the treatment successfully since 1984. Testimonials on the services of Dr. Paul and Dr. Matthew Schwedgefer and their Village Smiles team reveal that patients are pleased with their new smiles. Some emphasize the fact that other people do not know that they have had anything done with their teeth just by looking at them. Again, Dr. Paul Schwedfeger had been one of the primary users of the technology in the Rochester area. His team is also trained and capable. So, bright smiles are ahead.
